UV DTF Decals
UV DTF decals are pressure-sensitive, no-heat transfers designed for hard, smooth surfaces like tumblers, glass, and metal. Follow these guides for best results.
Application
Clean, smooth, and non-porous surfaces only.
For tricky placements, mist the surface with a few drops of dish soap in water. Apply the decal, slide it into position, then squeegee the liquid out. Let it dry overnight before peeling the film.
Prep & Apply (Step-by-Step)
Step 1: Clean Your Surface
Start with a squeaky-clean surface. Wipe it down with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth, then let it dry. If there’s oil, dust, or even a smudge left behind, the adhesive won’t grab.
Step 2: Prepare the Transfer
Flip the decal over and slowly peel away the white paper backing. The design should stay on the clear sheet. If a piece doesn’t lift, lay the backing back down, rub that area, and try again.
Step 3: Position the Decal
Line it up on your item exactly where you want it. UV DTF is sticky—take your time. (If you’re nervous, the soap + water hack below gives you a little wiggle room.)
Step 4: Press It Down
Use a squeegee or a credit card and rub firmly across the entire design. Start in the center and push outward to work out air and make sure every edge is sealed.
Step 5: Peel the Film
Slowly peel back the clear sheet, keeping it low and steady. The design should stay behind—glossy and slightly raised. If an edge lifts, lay the film back down, squeegee that spot again, and re-peel.
Troubleshooting
Decal won't stick?
Nine times out of ten, it’s the surface. If it isn’t squeaky clean and dry, the adhesive won’t grab. Wipe it again with alcohol, let it air dry, then press it down firmly with the squeegee.
Air bubbles under the design?
Bubbles happen — especially on bigger decals. Work from the center out when you’re squeegeeing. If you see a stubborn bubble after the fact, poke a tiny hole with a pin and push the air out. Using the soap + water hack can help prevent bubbles in the first place.
Edges peeling up?
If the edges are lifting, press them back down firmly and let the item cure longer before use. Remember, UV DTF really loves smooth, hard surfaces. If you’re trying to stick it to something textured, it may never bond the way you want.
Care
Care & Durability
- Hand-wash only. UV DTF looks tough, but the dishwasher is brutal. Keep tumblers and glassware out of it.
- Be gentle. A soft sponge with mild soap is all you need. Skip steel wool and harsh cleaners — they’ll scratch the finish.
- Give it time to cure. For best results, let your item sit at least 24 hours before heavy use. That’s when the adhesive is fully set.
- Stick to smooth surfaces. Glass, stainless, and coated tumblers will give you the longest-lasting results. Rough or textured items may not hold up as well.
